“Teachers to transform higher education system”

LAHORE: (Thursday, January 22, 2026): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali has said that teachers are the fundamental element in transforming the higher education system, and that the parameter of teaching should be included in faculty development. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the ‘National Outreach Program for Teachers’ organized by PU and HEC’s National Academy of Higher Education here on Thursday. On this occasion, PU Academic Staff Association President Dr Amjad Magsi, MD National Academy Dr Noor Amna, Training Coordinator Dr Sania Zahra, and faculty members were present. In his address, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that the objective of organizing the training program is to enhance the teaching and administrative capacities of faculty members. He stated that this program is an important step towards quality education in universities. He further said that the training program will focus on the use of technology in teaching, which will help teachers develop skills among students. He appreciated the Higher Education Commission for organizing an excellent training program and emphasized that learning is essential at every stage of life. Dr Noor Amna said that the teachers’ training program is being organized at Pakistan’s largest university. She added that the best resource persons have been arranged for the training program and that faculty development is among the key priorities of the HEC. Dr Sania Zahra said that the training program comprises four weeks, consisting of nine modules.
